Bloomsburg Field Hockey Blanks Slippery Rock

BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University field hockey team shutout Slippery Rock 4-0 in soggy conditions on Tuesday afternoon. The victory extends Bloomsburg's winning streak to 17 straight games.
The Huskies took an early 1-0 lead when Venessa Whitman (Oley/Oley Valley) scored on a penalty stroke. Just over a minute later, Ashley Heckard (Millerstown/Greenwood) scored off an assist from teammate Kelly Trevisan (Lancaster/Manheim Twp.). The Huskies took a 3-0 lead when Jamie Vanartsdalen (Huntington Valley/Lower Moreland) added another goal three minutes later, unassisted. Vanartsdalen's goal was her 23rd on the year.
In the second half, Morgan Wolf (Oley/Oley Valley) rounded out the scoring on the day with a goal with just over seven minutes left in the contest. Chelsea Due (Pen Argyl/Pen Argyl) was credited with an assist on Wolf's goal. Bloomsburg out shot Slippery Rock 17-3 in the contest.
The Huskies, 17-0 overall, 12-0 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), return to action on Saturday when they visit East Stroudsburg at noon.
